Following are the letter from the organiser..

Dear Volunteers Slot ZB (10 - 17 Oct, 2009),

This is an early reminder of your participation in the Volunteer program at Chagar Hutang (roughly 6 weeks from now). Please read the e-mail below and feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Please feel free to communicate among yourselves if you would like to meet and greet each other before meeting us at the Turtle House of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), especially if you're coming from the same state. It would also be a great idea to meet at the MBKT bus station (or at the airport) before hiring and sharing a taxi to UMT.

The journey from the bus station to UMT will take about 20 minutes, and from the airport, 10 minutes. Please eat something in the morning when you arrive, and please be at the Turtle House by 9:00 am. We will be giving briefing at 9:30 am sharp. After the briefing, you will be taken to Merang Jetty at 11 am, where you will board the ferry to Redang Island at 12:30 noon.

My phone number is 019 - 932 6052, but only use it if it is really important/necessary. I prefer we communicate by e-mail.

If you have any question regarding the Volunteer Program, please read the Volunteer Handbook (as attach in this e-mail). There are few changes that I would like to bring your attention to:

(1) Please bring your own detergent, soap and shampoo because we are no longer
providing them (we used to last year).

(2) If you have a sleeping bag, please bring one along, as well as a blanket and an inflatable pillow. It can get very chilly at night, especially when it rains.

Last but not least, I would like to remind you to bring only ONE piece of luggage (preferably a backpack as trolley bags are STRICTLY PROHIBITED) as we need your help to carry food supplies to Chagar Hutang. Also please email me if you decided or not able to join the volunteer program.

Collision with Bird~~

OMG.. It is 2nd times. I hit a chicken few months ago while driving in North-South Highway (Tampin-Tangkak)

Now, today, 21 July 2009, around 9.00am, I am driving with 80km/h, this time, I hit a bird and I found that the bird fell onto the road... haliluya.. hehe...

I intend to take a picture but it seems quite dangerous to stop in middle of East Coast Highway..

Yea... Long time waiting, finally have the opportunity to travel to Philippines~~

Summary of my trip

Duration : 9-16 June 2009
Location : 9 June @ Manila, 10-16 June @ CDO-Cagayan de Oro
Purpose : Business Trip~~~ (so is FOC~~)
Specialty : People lifestyle at CDO, transportation (jeepney, motorela, tricycle, water transport), local food, leisure activities (white water rafting at CDO~~)

Tips :

1) Currency : RM1 = P13 (20090609) . Ensure to bring enough Pesos or USD or Euro.. For the banks within airport, they no accept RM, so close I manage to exchange at money changer which is near the hotel.


2) Transportation : The public transportation is very cheap. Kindly ensure enough CASH (Pesos or USD) before you check in the flight because you have to PAY EXTRA for the Airport Tax which is not included in the air fare. At Manila Terminal 2, I paid P750 before I can enter the departure hall.

I was shocked when it fetchs total 8 persons!!

3) Language : English is Filipinos 2nd language like Malaysian. Therefore, there is no problem for the communication as long as your English is fluent enough.

4) Food : It more likely Chinese+Malay style. Lecon Manok (BBQ Chicken) is nice.
For muslim, there are halal food also. Yet, the hotel breakfast is not halal (fried port, pork porridge). A meal costs about P40-70. The most famous fast food in Philippines is... Jolibee~~a local fast food company which is better than McD & KFC.

5) Weather : Nothing to comment as it is same as Malaysia~~ 以马来西亚的天气来说爱你~

Travel period : 25 - 30 April 2009 (woo.. H1N1 spreading period~~)
Travel purpose : Business Trip (I did enjoy after work happy hour~~ )
Final destination : Chonburi , Thailand (40 mins driving from Suvarnabhumi Airport/ 80 km from Bangkok, 80km from Pattaya)

***Travel tips***

- Learn some basic Thai Language before going there, example => how much(thao rai), number 1-10, 20-100, etc.

- Exchange Thai Baht at Thailand Airport, the rate is much better than exchange in Malaysia.

Wong and I reached Suvarnabhumi Airport around 7.30pm. After registering at the customs, we took a rental car... Toyota Camry~~

We were heading to Chonburi after getting the car. It took around 45 mins to reached the hotel.

After working, I manage to meet 1 of my UTM Flying Dance buddy, Ah Guan~~~
We went to a city.. Thai ppl describe it as 'Men Heaven' => Pattaya.
We just have some sight seeing then go back~~

After operation... Doctor inspects my eyes..


My Feeling during operation... actually not pain at all.. just a bit uncomfortable as my eyes must remain opened... yet, i slightly adopt this feeling after few minutes..

After 1 month (14 May 09)... here is my status...
Right eye satisfactions => 99% (very very clear)
Left eye satisfactions => 90% (i feel that got a bit astigmatsm 散光, but according to doctor, it will recover soon)

Let’s have some saving in Government Bonds

Recently, our government has released a bond which is opened to public above 21 years old on 14 April 2009. Previously, it is only released to senior citizen (above 55 years old).

Points of Interest:

1) It is something like FD, it will give 5% each year for total 3 years.

2) The Bond sales period will end after 1 month, means will end on 13 May 2009

3) If you got extra money, can save some in this BOND instead of putting in FD (2.5% only)

YY on the way to buy a ‘SUKUK’

What is this meaning? I believe that this bank is not a racist bank. The bond is already opened to public, why this ‘cute’ bank ‘encourage’ discrimination ‘act’ ?

‘Buy now or NEVER’ => It might be meaning that this kind of ‘fair act’, shall be ended soon as a WIND of CHANGE is coming? Hope so… ^.^
